Expectations (prognosis)
Mild overdose:
You must seek medical care, but supportive therapy only may be sufficient. Moderate overdose:
You must seek medical care. Recovery is usually within 24 to 48 hours with proper treatment. Severe overdose:
If unable to arouse the patient and vital signs (temperature, pulse , rate of breathing, blood pressure ) are abnormal, more aggressive treatments will be necessary. 3 to 5 days may be required before the patient recovers consciousness. The fatality rate is less than 5% with proper treatment.
